Family-friendly adventure trails in Thurgau

If the next story, a new puzzle or a hands-on station comes along at regular intervals, it's simply better to hike with children. And more exciting, varied and fun too. That's why we recommend the Thurgau adventure trails and themed trails, which range from treasure hunts and sensory trails to fairytale trails. For an all-round successful family outing.

The Rugelreise is located in the picturesque Murg Valley between Frauenfeld and Matzingen. Twelve unique marble runs await visitors here, all of which have been created in collaboration with local carpentry workshops. Families can decide for themselves whether they want to complete the entire hike or just part of the route. Although each marble run is individual and unique, they all have something in common: they promise a fun adventure for young and old.
The Pirate School on Lake Constance is no ordinary school: there are no adults or teachers here. But that doesn't mean there's nothing to learn! Little pirates visit numerous excursion destinations and solve various tasks to learn the skills of the real, big pirates. They collect pirate figurines, items and coins in the Pirate School app. Once the budding pirate children have collected enough treasures, they receive a diploma and progress to the next class of the Pirate School, where more tasks await them.
Steer ships into the harbour, manoeuvre locomotives from track to track, connect letters in street lettering, fish, overcome obstacles in the animal rally, roll the dice across Lake Constance - all these games and more await families with children aged six and over on the Ludotrail Romanshorn. Adventure-seekers can discover the harbor town along 25 game stations. The stations set up on tables, walls, in the park, along sights or restaurants can be completed and played in any number and order. All-round successful family fun.
With the KrimiSpass, Amriswil becomes the scene of a crime and the scene of a missing person case that gives rise to wild speculation. Information signs are used to collect clues along the way, which should lead the master detectives to the solution of the case. All that is needed for the search for clues is a mobile smartphone. The trail is free and accessible at all times.
For once, socks and shoes stay in your rucksack on this hike. The Nollen barefoot and panoramic trail in the Wuppenau region surprises the soles of your feet with completely new sensory impressions on two routes of different lengths. For example, you can walk through a peat bath, over stones or through cold water. Along the way, you can enjoy an unparalleled panoramic view of the Seerücken and Alpstein.
On the Detective Trail, you go on a treasure hunt together with Detective Badger. Tricky puzzles have to be solved while learning exciting facts about juicy apples or the Thurgau Constance region. At the end of the scavenger hunt, a treasure chest awaits little master detectives, which can be cracked with the code worked out along the way. Detective Badger Trails are a great family experience that can be started in Diessenhofen, Frauenfeld, Gachnang, Steckborn-Berlingen and around the world of apples at the Swiss Cider and Distillery Museum in Arbon.
On the Altnau Apple Trail, hiking becomes an educational adventure tour for young and old explorers. Guides in the form of the apple mascots "Emma", "Lisi" and "Fredi" lead you through the apple orchards on three routes of different lengths along play tips and hands-on activities. On foot, by bike or in a horse-drawn carriage, you can find out why apples grow particularly well in the village of Altnau. The tour is particularly beautiful during apple blossom in spring or harvest time in fall. The Feierlenhof farm along the way offers refreshing drinks and a cozy place to rest.
18 stations on the Fable Trail between Steckborn and Ermatingen take you into the world of fairy tales. Families spend a good three hours on the trail. Always with them: Master Petz, Master Lampe and many other furry mythical creatures. The Fable Trail not only delights with fairytale worlds, but also with quizzes, game suggestions and spectacular views of the Lake Constance region. There are two barbecue areas, "Gääsinge" and "Burst", halfway along the trail for a well-earned break. For the way back from Steckborn to Ermatingen, little pirates choose the waterway by boat.
The CatWalk9220 is a two-hour scavenger hunt that combines exercise and fun for the whole family. Equipped with instructions, puzzle solvers try to discover 20 nature-loving places around Bischofszell and use their sleuthing skills to find the treasure. Tip: Stop along the way at the Swiss family fireplace or take a refreshing dip in the Thur or the swimming pool.
