Altnau apple trail

Thanks to information stations and hands-on installations, hiking on the Altnau Apple Trail is an educational experience for young and old apple trail explorers. Guides in the form of the apple mascots "Fredi", "Emma" and "Lisi" lead the family on three routes through the apple groves.
The Altnau apple trail has 24 information boards with play stations and lots of exciting facts about fruit growing. Attractive resting places invite you to rest, play and picnic. And the restaurants and pubs in the apple village of Altnau mainly offer regional products.
Altnau has more apple trees than inhabitants - and a magnificent view of Lake Constance. The apple trail shows how important fruit growing has been to the culture of the village for generations. Newly designed information boards with apple variety puzzles, jokes and questions provide interesting facts about the apple-growing region and the red-cheeked fruit. The three apple mascots Fredi, Lisi and Emma address children from the signs at eye level and present fun hands-on activities.
The excursion through the apple village can easily start at the train station, and the route is also suitable for a bike tour. Benches and picnic areas offer the opportunity to take a breather. A special place to take a deep breath is the Altnauer Steg, which at 270 meters stretches further into Lake Constance than any other. In the farm stores, village stores and restaurants in Altnau, everything revolves around apples - nowhere else in Thurgau do Öpfelchüechli taste better than here.
A trip to the apple blossom in May or in late summer during the Altnau Apple Weeks, the highlight of which is the fall market on the last day, is particularly enjoyable.
