The Badi-Express on Lake Constance

The lake line between Rorschach, Kreuzlingen and Schaffhausen is a real insider tip. The Thurbo regional train runs along the Rhine and Lake Constance every half hour in both directions. Simply get off where the next dip in the water calls and continue your journey in comfort. Ideal for a relaxed summer excursion: stroll from bathing area to bathing area, take the train in between and experience so much of the refreshing Lake Constance region.

Arbon makes the start
First stop Badi-Hopping: Arbon. There is a cozy swimming pool on the Arbon lakeside promenade. It's a 10-minute walk from the train station. In addition to access to the lake, the Badi offers various swimming pools - and the only ten-meter diving tower on the southern shore of Lake Constance! If you want to keep walking, the Buchhorn lido with its park-like sunbathing lawn is another 20 minutes away. Incidentally, the lido was built by the people of Arbon. It has been recognized by the Swiss Heritage Society as one of the most beautiful baths in Switzerland. Hiking on to Egnach? Change to the train there.
Splash around, paddle, cheers!
Romanshorn is also worthy of a stopover. Here the station is right by the harbor. Out of the train and into the fun. The walk to the lakeside resort is a wonderful one: it leads past cool garden pubs and beach bars (with sand under your feet, really!) around the harbor basin and then through the lakeside park. In 15 minutes you reach the spacious Badi Romanshorn with its swimming pool, winding water slide and direct access to the lake. By the way: there is an automatic stand-up paddle rental station in the Seepark! Simply use the app to book your SUP equipment and paddle off.

Altnau's apple stalk
Continue along the lake line to the longest jetty on Lake Constance. This is located in Altnau: it leads 270 meters out onto the lake and is affectionately known as the "stem" of the apple village. Run out and jump in! Right next to the jetty is Altnau's bathing beach with a gently sloping sand and shingle beach, child-friendly access to the lake and shady trees. The eastern part of the beach is used as a "dog beach". Four-legged friends are allowed in the water here.
Bottighofen swimming pool
A special stopover along the Thurbo Lake Line is the Röösli outdoor pool in Bottighofen. Admission is free and if you arrive by train, you don't have to search for a parking space. The outdoor pool boasts a modern ambience and a stylish restaurant: in the "Beach 5", a cozy wooden terrace meets a view of the lake, refreshing drinks meet hot dishes. The cuisine? Honest, fresh and surprisingly good.
Swimming in Seeburgpark
For those who like an uncomplicated swim, get off at Kreuzlingen harbor and find a spot on the shore in Seeburgpark. The huge park with restaurants, mini golf, zoo and playground is a real family paradise. Those who prefer an outdoor pool with sanitary facilities, a swimming pool and access to the lake can walk through Seeburgpark to Hörnli swimming pool or get off the train at Kurzrickenbach Seepark. On your walk, you will pass the Fischerhaus campsite. Incidentally, it's just under 20 minutes' walk from Bottighofen to here.
Ermatingen sandy beach
At the lido in Ermatingen, you almost feel like you're at the seaside thanks to the sandy beach. There is also a volleyball net for playing beach volleyball. The natural lido is beautifully situated in the middle of the dreamy landscape of Untersee. It is located on the western edge of the village, directly on the cycle and hiking trail, around 15 minutes' walk from the train station. A special highlight is the charming Badi Beiz, which serves culinary delights right by the water.

"From Badi to Badi - a summer's day as it should be."

Steckborn outdoor pool
Badi Steckborn is the perfect family pool: it has sun all day long, a secluded sunbathing lawn with shady trees, a restaurant and a children's paddling pool with a playground right on the lake. Balls for a football tournament or ping-pong can be borrowed and there are also great toys in the water, such as the water ferry or the iceberg to climb up. Admission is free. Stand-up paddles, kayaks and pedalos from La Canao can be rented at the Badi and returned at another rental station. So if you want, you can canoe the next stage of the lake route.
Rhybadis to jump in
The Rhybadi Rodenbrunnen near Diessenhofen is a historic place. It was opened back in the 1940s and has since been voted one of the most beautiful swimming pools in Switzerland on various occasions. You enter the grounds through the old town wall. The children's pool, playground, volleyball court and, of course, the green-blue Rhine flowing past invite you to splash, play and enjoy. The hearty restaurant serves delicacies such as focaccias, hamburgers or - hmmm - homemade cakes. Incidentally, the destination of the Seelinie is in the Munot town of Schaffhausen, which also has a Rhybadi. It looks like a ship from above and is the largest preserved box bath in Switzerland. Here you can enjoy yoga, concerts and freshly prepared food in a lovingly run bistro.
