Arenenberg Garden World

The gardening tradition on the Arenenberg dates back at least as far as the Middle Ages. Hortense de Beauharnais and the garden prince Pückler also brought the Arenenberg into bloom. Today, the diverse gardens are a popular destination for day-trippers and the viewing terrace in front of the castle is considered one of the most romantic places on Lake Constance.
After the Napoleonic era, the Canton of Thurgau was able to take over Arenenberg in 1906, with two conditions: both a museum and a school were to be built on the site. Today, the Arenenberg Education and Advisory Center passes on green knowledge to the canton's young farmers and the Arenenberg Garden World now also makes this part of the site accessible. The tree and variety garden, henhouse and apiary are often unknown even to fans of Arenenberg. A half-hour circular trail connects the historical and school gardens of the Arenenberg, and with the help of a new garden guide (available in the museum store) you can explore the green side of the Arenenberg.
With the opening of the Garden World, the Arenenberg is following the garden trend in tourism. A visit to the castle can now be combined with a long walk and a break in the Bistro Louis Napoléon to make a day trip. More adventure offers, new overview maps of the grounds and public courses offered by the BBZ on the subject of gardening and gardens make the Arenenberg even more attractive.
