Castle exhibition of the Thurgau Historical Museum

Free admission

In a modern, multimedia exhibition, treasures and stories from the time when Thurgau was created in its current form are on display.
The castle exhibition of the Thurgau Historical Museum stages the eventful 15th century, when the borders of today's canton were created. A multimedia and sensory tour takes visitors on a journey into the fascinating world of knights, monasteries and bailiffs. The exhibition sheds light on the era after 1415, which was seminal for the later canton, and offers adults and children alike a sensual and playful approach to the Middle Ages. The modern staging of the rooms, the interactive animations and the works of art exhibited in their new splendour characterize the multimedia tour of the castle. In atmospherically staged castle rooms, the audience can follow at first hand how people experienced the turbulent transitional period to Confederation rule. A time in which the conflicting parties called each other "Kuhschweizer" and "Schauschwabe" and modern borders were drawn.
