Lina Maria Sommer: meertau in the earth garden

Lina Maria Sommer: meertau in the earth garden

Free admission

In this exhibition, Thurgau artist Lina Maria Sommer presents large-format, filigree watercolor drawings in which she combines free movement with a rhythmic structure.
The sheets are similar in color and structure, but the movements on the paper are unique - like new thoughts that the artist gives space to. These movements are based on a structure that is characterized by repetition and reveals a top and bottom. The structure is applied in a precise and time-consuming process, following the free lines. A work during which the artist "wants to get a little closer to a deeper core". The exhibition title "meertau im erdgarten" refers on the one hand to the color world of the works, on the other hand it points to the staging in the Shedhalle. In addition to painting, Lina Maria Sommer also brings stones and scents into the room during her studio time. How she interweaves these elements and what kind of garden will emerge from them is the result of her three-week artistic process. Lina Maria Sommer is the winner of the Adolf Dietrich Prize 2025.
