The cabinet exhibition traces the history of a sensational coin find that was hidden in Merishausen in the 16th century and came to light again in 1922.
A spectacular discovery was made during construction work in Merishausen in 1922: Over a thousand silver and gold coins that had been buried around 1554 came to light in a container. The coins came mainly from southern German towns, but also from Austria, France, Italy and other countries. But how did the coins end up in Merishausen? Who did this money belong to? How much was it worth? And why was it buried? The cabinet exhibition takes a closer look at the coins and places the find in its chronological context with other objects.
